I.T.S. BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIPS 2011 - Biggest and best yet?!
The I.T.S. British Championships 2011 really was an outstanding event ... from the vigour & passion of the competitors to the commitment, pride & loyalty of the spectators, supporting families and friends! It really was an excellent day all round & thank you for your support!
Following introductions from I.T.S. Director Mr J Swift and an opening by Kidderminster's town mayor, the day began with a sing, swing and dance performance from Stagecoach Kidderminster as well as a tricks and weapons demonstration from World Champion Joe Hallett and his Team Resurrection! Some of the skills just had to be seen to be believed!
The competitive element of the day had two story lines, as well as the standard individual traditional patterns, continuous and points sparring categories there was a tri-nations 'International Team Challenge' between England, Scotland and Wales! The medals and successes were shared across all supporting clubs with all sections being keenly contested & demonstrating high level taekwondo as well as impeccable sportsman-like conduct - well done all!

Our 2010 VERVE UK OPEN was another huge success with 90 categories for individuals, teams, patterns, forms & creative, as well as sparring in a boxing ring, it was an excellent day all round!!!!

I.T.S. PITTEUCHAR TAEKWONDO CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS 2010
The recent Fife Taekwondo Group invitational competition, hosted by Pitteuchar Taekwondo Club took place on Sunday 7th March and it proved to be a very exciting event with some excellent displays from Fife Taekwondo students.
There was another Fife Taekwondo Group record of 67 students taking part in the event, with some sections hosting as many as 27 students in one section.

I.T.S. FIFE FIGHT NIGHT 2010 - Saturday 13th February
Fife Taekwondo Group hosted the ITS Fight Night 2010 at the Rothes Halls on Saturday 13th February. The night was a huge sucess and the sold out 500 capacity crowd witnessed some exiting and action packed fights which concluded with the dramatic Scotland / England International team event.
Mr Fisher (hosting instructor) would like to thank all those associated with Fife Taekwondo Group who’s dedication and hardwork over the past year had allowed them to host the event.

The much anticipated I.T.S. Fife Night draws closer and arrangements are well under way for what should be an excellent evening of martial arts action and demonstrations!
Entry forms for competitors are now available from your club instructor, please note that the deadline for entries is 31/12/09 !
A number of travel and accommodation arrangements have been made so again please see your instructor to confirm your requirements. Places are currently limited though more can be made available subject to request.
Please ensure all junior members (aged 15 years and under) are accompanied by a parent or guardian.

As the flyer suggests, our 2010 I.T.S. British Championships has taken on a slightly different theme with the involvement of our international affiliates! It should be bigger and better than ever with the opportunity to be involved in what will surely be the event of 2010!
Please note that this event is a Tae kwon do only event and that it is open to I.T.S. affiliates only.
The event will consist of over 75 categories with opportunities in point & light continuous sparring, as well as korean patterns and creative forms. In addition there will be an international team challenge which will pitch the best TKD practitioners from several of the I.T.S. international teams so again this will be one event not to be missed!
Ask your club instructor for more details as a list of categories, event application forms as well as rules and regulations will be released early 2010.

NEW PATTERNS SECTION TO THE I.T.S. FIFE WEBSITE
I.T.S. Fife's chief instructors, Mr Ross Fisher and Mr Robert Paterson, have been working exceptionally hard in the development of the Scottish element of I.T.S. and have recently videoed the syllabus patterns from white to black belt and put them on their club website - CLICK HERE TO VIEW .
In addition, I.T.S. Fife has been selected to host the first Fight Night of 2010, it will be on Saturday 13th March. The event will play host to a number of points and light continuous sparring bouts as well as demonstrations and an international 5 man team event Scotland Vs England - one not to be missed!
For travelling I.T.S. members, families and friends - coaches will be arranged from London and Birmingham, leaving on the 12th and returning on 14th March. Please register your interest via your I.T.S. club instructor and check out the websites for updates.
CHARITY FUND RAISING
August was the month for charity fund raising events what with an Exer-thon, Kick-a-thon and Fit-a-thon as well as proceeds from V.M.A. Summer Slam interclub all going to good causes.
All of the events had a similar theme - enduring as much physical exercise and activity (pain!) as possible whilst raising money for designated charities. The majority of funds have been donated to the local county air ambulance services, totals are still being calculated.
Well done for all your efforts and support!

I.T.S. BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIPS 2010 - Date confirmed as Sunday 16th May 2010
The date for 2010's I.T.S. British Championships has been confirmed as the 16th May - the early announcement of the date has come about due to the confirmation of Master Wadley and our U.S. affiliates attendance! As well as the standard traditional patterns and points sparring categories we are scheduling an 'International Team Challenge' style event where teams from England, Scotland, Ireland and U.S.A. will battle it out for the international team challenge title!
Team squad sessions as well as selections will be made through specific training sessions and competitive based performance. For more details please E-MAIL - Mr SWIFT

I.T.S. FIFE TAE KWON DO INTERCLUB
Congratulations to Mr Ross Fisher and his Team of instructors at Fife Taekwondo who successfully hosted an Under 12's Interclub competition on March 14th 2009. It saw I.T.S. Fife club members from Woodside and Leslie compete against several other local groups including G.T.F. Markinch and I.T.F. Kirkland and I.T.F. East Weymss.
As well as patterns and sparring categories there were also board breaking demos, jump kicking and senior grades patterns demonstrations.

Mr SWIFT FEARURES IN NATIONAL MARTIAL ARTS MAGAZINE COMBAT !

ENDURANCE
MARTIAL ARTS GRADING AND NUNCHAKU WORKSHOP
March 2009 saw the I.T.S. Redditch Taekwondo club and instructors, Mr and Mrs Grazier, host their first club grading and a nunchaku based weapons workshop. Mr Swift (Head of the I.T.S.) examined the students and delivered the workshop and commented on their high standard and achievements so very well done to all those who attended and passed!
In closure to the grading and workshop several of the the senior grade members were asked to demonstrate some board breaking, they were Mrs Elaine Grazier - reverse punch, Mr Lee Grazier - ridge hand strike, Ms Vicky Adams - back kick, Mr John Swift - jump front kick.
NEW AFFILIATED MEMBERS IN THE U.S.A.
Such is the nature of the I.T.S. groups expansion and development we are pleased to announce the affiliated involvement of 60 Taekwondo schools in the United States of America. The USA based schools have joint recognition with the UTA and AMA, club listings can be found on the I.T.S. clubs page.
Anyway, a big UK welcome to our new affiliated I.T.S. collegues in the U.S.A. we look forward to seeing you later in the year at the scheduled competitions and internatioanl seminars!
I.T.S. BROOM SPONSORED SPAR 2009
A big congratulations goes out to Mr and Mrs Hall and the supporting members of the I.T.S. Broom and London Chinatown Taekwondo club who hosted a sponsored spar on the 1st March. Supporting members, who came from several of the I.T.S. clubs, completed 100 rounds of sparring for their designated charities and their committment, hard work and perseverance was exceptional.
In addition to the sponsored spar Mr Swift graded just less than 30 of the participants to higher belts - again, well done all!

TO I.T.S. JUNIOR TEAM LEADERS
The February 2009 I.T.S. Junior Team Leader course proved to be hugely successful with candidates from a number of I.T.S. clubs coming together and having to demostrate and develop key life skills of confidence, communication, team building, motivation and being a role model. Student committment and focus was shown throughout and enjoyment evident, those who passed the course were as follows -

I.T.S. PAD DRILLS ON YOUTUBE.COM
Fixed pad drills have been part of our I.T.S. syllabus since 2002, such is their popularity other Taekwondo groups have also adopted them! All I.T.S. pad drills were designed by Mr John Swift, the clip below shows number 5 being performed by Mr John Swift and Mr Tim Spilsbury.
For clarification on where the pad drills appear in your grading syllabus please speak to your club instructor.
